In this Smooth 6.75 treadmill review, we’ll try to see if Smooth Fitness made the right decision in replacing the Smooth 6.45 with this latest model in its treadmill line. While it’s difficult to judge any new product model simply on the basis of what the manufacturer says about it, what you do manage to find out about this treadmill is enough to get fitness enthusiasts more than a little intrigued, and perhaps interested to get one for their own.
Features it got from the Smooth 6.45
You’d be hard-pressed to find anything bad to say about the older version, the Smooth 6.45. It’s a solid, high-quality equipment that already has everything you would need in a treadmill. Well, the Smooth 6.75 has all that too – plus a few more added features.
First, it’s got a walking or jogging surface that measures a very comfortable 20″ by 60″. The motor is also the same 3.0 HP continuous duty that’s known for being very quiet, and it still retains a top speed of 12 mph with the highest incline at 15%. Like the 6.45, the Smooth 6.75 also supports a user with maximum weight of 350 lbs, and still comes with a heart rate control program and hand pulse grips.
New features added in the 6.75
At this point in the Smooth 6.75 treadmill review, you must be wondering already why Smooth Fitness even bothered to introduce a new machine that appears to have little changes from the original model. But the 6.75 has more to offer. The biggest changes worth noting are the dual-stage, soft-drop folding feature, and the deluxe sound system. This treadmill also got a slight size and weight reduction from the older model, so it’s now easier to fold and store.
Other than that, the Smooth 6.75 is also equipped with a much bigger dual-color LCD display, cooling fans, and hand rail toggle adjustments for easier control of the speed and incline.
What you get for the price
In this Smooth 6.75 treadmill review, we also talk about its cost. At $1,799, its price may be a bit too high for walking and jogging enthusiasts who may be just looking for a basic treadmill machine. However, it also can’t be denied that with all the features that this equipment comes with, you would still get good value for the money that you’re paying for.
And just like most Smooth Fitness treadmills, the 6.75 also comes with a product warranty that other treadmill manufacturers would find hard to match – lifetime warranty for frame and motor, 5 years for electronic parts, and 2 years for labor.
Closing thoughts
You may wonder if this treadmill has any drawbacks at all. As of this writing (Nov 2009), it’s too soon to tell, and that in itself may be the sole negative thing I can say about it for now – that it does not have a track record yet. However having closely studied its features and compared it with other older models, it looks like this treadmill can score big points with consumers and industry experts. So it’s a little expensive, but as this Smooth 6.75 treadmill review has mentioned earlier, the expense is worth it.
