Cardiovascular workouts come in many forms. You can get on a treadmill or take a walk but, one of the best ways to get your heart pumping is to ride a bicycle. But, often we don’t have time or space to take a long ride and get a good workout. Getting that same workout at the gym or in your home is a much more convenient option. Cycling bikes or stationary bikes are meant for this very purpose. You can get a good cycling bikes review on the Internet.

There are two popular types of cycling bike, the upright and the recumbent. You can pretty much guess the difference by the names. An upright bike allows the rider to sit upright with your feet extended downward toward the pedals or even stand while riding. The recumbent bike has a fully cushioned seat with a back rest and your feet extend forward toward the pedals. Which one you choose really depends on your preference but here are a few things to know about each.

The upright bicycle is considered to give a more intense workout although this is not necessarily the case. It depends on the rider. However, it is now to cause strain on your back. A recumbent bike provides ample back support but, as mentioned, may encourage a slower, less strenuous exercise routine.

There are, of course, other types of exercise equipment meant for a cardiovascular workout but, in general cycling bikes are more reasonably priced than the rest. So, let’s say for whatever reason, you decide to get a cycling bike. Following are a few to consider.

A number of these bikes retail for under $200. The reviews always have a few complaints. Mostly the problems are to do comfort, assembly and durability. But, the following bikes are consistently highly rated by the majority of reviewers. The Marcy PL-43211 Upright Magnetic Resistance Bike and the PL-43231 Recumbent Magnetic Resistance Bike are two popular bikes. The upright Phoenix 99605 and ProForm GR 80 upright are also highly rated in this price range.

A manufacturer that makes quite a few cycling bikes is Schwinn. They are also generally highly regarded. They are a little more expensive with a range of $200 to about $1300. Some other high end options in the $2000-$3000 range are the Lifecycle recumbents R3 and R9i. Higher priced bikes offer things like more programs with LCD screens, higher quality materials, higher weight limits, more adjustability and more resistance levels.

It is impossible to get a real idea of how a bike works with just an online description. So, before you purchase be sure to try out various recumbent and upright cycling bikes. Try and attend a spinning class at a local gym to get an idea of the workout they provide. Otherwise, you can visit a showroom or retail outlet and hop on a few bikes to get the feel of them.

Last but not least, consider assembly and warranty. Do you want a pre-assembled bike or are you good at assembling things. Some of these bikes take a bit of expertise to put together. What is the warranty like on the bike you want? Will you have to call a mechanic if something goes wrong? Can you send it back for repairs? These are all good things to know. These reasonably priced machines are a great addition to any home gym and will really get you in shape.
